Interestly continuous type power sources co-exist from the smallest turbines to the massive ones in aircraft carriers while pulse type Diesels vary from chainsaw size ones to 100 000.00 HP in ferry boats.
I see no future for pulse type nuclear fusion machines only for research.

You have to take into account the energy supplied by the lasers this is not free !
This is why it is no good as a power source.

Why this enthusiasm for using NRI research machines for power generation the efficiency is about  0.01% and the fuel extremely expensive ?

I have read that the lasers that set of the implosion adsorbed 922MJ

The Californian installation is of course a research machine intended to study fusion not a prototype power generator despite producing a net output of about 1MJ burning up gold and tritium is a rather costly way of producing power.
I am always puzzled by the investment in nuclear fusion when nuclear fission is a well developed system but few countries are prepared to use it

Just Chat! / was the Manahan project a faliure
« on: 11/12/2022 17:53:23 »
$2billion in nineteens forty money was spent but other than teaching the USSR how to make nuclear bombs had little effect on the war.
the decision to separate  u235 by diffusion and electromagnetic  means instead of centrifuges meant that bombs were not available till Japan was defeated .

Just Chat! / Re: How was Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri betrayed
« on: 22/11/2022 17:29:15 »
I understand the betrayal of Amman al-Zawahiri was a matter of personal vengeance by one whose relatives had been killed by him and nothing to do with money

Just Chat! / Re: Anyone here have any good penis jokes?
« on: 20/11/2022 22:03:08 »
I was going to quote the joke about the bridegroom coursing the wishing well while gazing at the 7inch pianist

Chemistry / What is the cost of Plutomium if you are a authorised buyer?
« on: 07/10/2022 09:15:37 »
There are many isotopes of Plutonium some more useful than others I have seen $4000 per gram quoted is this the most costly?

« on: 04/10/2022 19:23:39 »
The Nazis were rather slow getting Penicillin into production, but I understand that captured Penicillin was used on VIP,s

Just Chat! / What proporion of taxation is derived from the 45% tax rate?
« on: 04/10/2022 19:15:16 »
The news media seems obsessed by this tax rate which I think brings in very little in the grand scheme of things

Sex dolls were produced in Dresden that troops could use instead of contracting sexual diseases from prostitutes .

Chemistry / Re: Is there any evidence that water in which eggs have been boiled is harmful
« on: 27/09/2022 20:28:12 »
It is reputed that it causes warts, but these benign growths are known to be caused by viruses.

Chemistry / Is there any evidence that water in which eggs have been boiled is harmful
« on: 27/09/2022 10:49:16 »
Popular superstition tells you to treat such water with care do any viruses survive the boiling or is the water enhanced in minerals ?

Just Chat! / IfRe: Did Prince Andrew really commit a crime?
« on: 26/09/2022 20:06:45 »
If the Duke of York did have sex with the women in question, it was indeed a crime of child rape as the local law decrees that the women can only give consent if she is older than seventeen.
In most states the age of consent is sixteen or less so that no crime would have been committed, what normally happens is the women is prepared to accept a substantial sum of money to deny sex took place and everyone is happy but for some strange reason the duke resisted making any payment.

The "beast" is a tank disguised as a limo used by the POTUS to avoid him being assassinated.

Just Chat! / Is it not time for a new national anthem?
« on: 12/09/2022 19:54:27 »
The dreary hymn of praise seems more appropriate for north Korea or ROC than a modern democratic UK.

Technology / How are redacted documents produced?
« on: 31/08/2022 20:55:29 »
I see two possibilities if the producer has the plaintext to hand he can replace each character with a black one then there is a small chance the plaintext can be recovered but for maximum security the document should
be retyped .
