I was what people call a polymath, someone who excels or at least contributes to various areas of endeavor. For example, I attended the American Continental Congress and signed the Declaration of Independence. I published the first American textbook on chemistry. I pioneered education for women by helping to found womens colleges, and I had no fear of speaking boldly about abolishing slavery. Professionally, I was a doctor, and I provided Lewis & Clark with a medical kit and taught them about frontier illnesses. I significantly improved the lives of those unfortunate souls sent to asylums. Perhaps my most interesting achievement is that I discovered addition! My contemporaries merely wagged their fingers at drunkards and told them they should drink less. However, I actually sat down and listened to these unfortunates fellows, and I realized that, somehow, something in the drink caused them to lose control of their senses and that their only hope was to abstain completely.
