Would dark matter be just an intermediary between energy and matter formed initially just prior to the formation of high energy particles at the big bang?..... Would dark matter be nothing other than a persistent overzealous energy pre-atomic mass formation?

Objects as we know them (rocks, plants, people, etc.) are composed entirely of ordinary matter, so no, none of these things are functions of dark matter.

Temperature is not a property of dark matter. Matter that is more susceptible to temperature variance tends to less massive. Hence rocks (and not styrofoam) being used in saunas to retain heat.

On the scheme of large scale things that are not understood, it is likely that dark matter and dark energy are some function of these, we only know that these things are required to make the numbers add up.  In my opinion it's a bit like alchemy, possible with nuclear capability, but when the fellows of history tried it they had no idea what they where looking for or the workings. If you wany to find out what dark matter is you've got to find out what underlies it.
