Was psoriasis mistaken for leprosy in the past?

Bob Calder asked the Naked Scientists:
Dear Chris,
Can you get someone to speak on the possibility of what we know as
psoriasis being mistaken for leprosy in the historic record
linguistically and objectively? I am also interested in how they
adjust their data on leprosy looking at the differences between
prevalence based on historic documents and that based on skeletal
remains.
Best regards,
Bob
