205,000 excess deaths in the USA since February. 64,000 in the UK. But the US pandemic started later, and the population density is minute, so as in 1917 and 1942, it will take time to catch up.I haven't seen any credible figures for Brazil. Remember "death from COVID" is in most cases a guess, but excess deaths above the 5 year average is a fact. And nothing that comes from a politician's mouth is worth believing.

The United States is the 180th most densely populated country on earth with a population of 319.3 million people living in 9,826,675 km2 (3,794,101 sq. miles), which gives it a population density of 32.5 people/km2 (84.2 people/sq. mile). Thus, the UK is roughly 8 times more densely populated than the US.
The scientific measure is the morbidity and mortality of known true positives - the underlying characteristic of the virus. This hasn't changed much since the early work in Wuhan: 20% severe, disabling and persistent symptoms, 5 - 6% mortality.

I'm always impressed by the way that mums cross the road by pushing that heavily armored buggy in front of them, just like the infantry following a tank.
Hospital admissions in the uk are down past 1 per 100,000, and staying down.
