Anastasia has an ant farm. Now, on the box it shows them digging tunnels through the sand and having a jolly good time. So why are Anastasia's ant doing nothing? Just walking along the top of the sand looking far from jolly!

The ant farm needs to be moist and kept out of the sun! They also need to be fed ..you will see what to feed them here also! Here is a link if you need more questions answered !!

Worms are equally as yucky LOL Ants go everywhere if you break your farm or don't get the lid back on tight! LOL

Paul did Anastasia get a lighted ant farm, or gel type, or did she get the basic panel one that stands upright? They have tons of them.

Paul, how long have the ants been introduced to the ant farm?...they could just be freaked !!



I also had an ant farm...it was the gel type. This does not answer your question but the mysterious thing with mine is that it disappeared before I could even start using it. Now, these things aren't that small and to this day...a year later....I do not know where it went.....I suspect it was accidentally thrown out but how can you accidentally throw out an ant farm ?

if they don't buck their ideas up, and start making nice tunnels and smiling as i walk in to the room. Then this will be my next pet!!!

There is a sugar water solution you can make to feed them that will liven the little beggars up and make them happy little sugar ants. If you just got it in the mail, they may be hungry, they can go awhile without food but you might need to use an eye dropper or what ever will work to moisten the dirt with a solution of water and sugar. I cannot remember the ratio. Then take a small prescription bottle and small tweezers if you can fit them in your bottle. keep that with you or Anastasia, she can pick up dead,flys, parts of bugs spiders etc and collect them in there. The tweezers help maintain her clean hands. LOL two bottles are preferable one for tweezers and one for bugs, rubber band them together. Look in sliding window tracks spider webs under dry old wood piles etc. Remember ants like dead insects and body parts they are scavangers!
