That's a little insulting... MOST Trekies and Trekers, live in the real world and simply dream of how great it would be if we DID live in a world like Star Trek, where personal improvement is all we have to do and all the natural human prejudices have been out-grown... the fact that SOOO MUCH of what we've seen on Star trek has come to life is simply exciting, when you consider that while we were watching it it seemed so cool and yet so unbelievable... My observation too, is that most NON-Treks don't care at all about personal improvement, and are simply satisfied with being what they currently are...

Kinda new here, so I'm lost on the "spamming" thing, I assume the spam part was already removed... Anyway, Water filtration IS important no matter what your source... Where I live we drink our toilet water, Our county system of recycling water is so great that Japan sent people over to study it... Everywhere else has lesser water, perhaps, but even with our great county system, the water has to travel through old pipes before we can use it... Water, by nature is our #1 source of minerals, so I'm against things like Reverse Osmosis, because while most bottled water is cleaned that way, the bottlers reAdd the minerals which is something we can't do at home... My solution is a filter that stops Sediment and Chlorine combined with an under counter unit with a filter that stops everything else for drinking... These systems are available everywhere for just a couple hundred dollars... The expense comes in with the replacement filters, basically you should spend about $250 per year to filter the water, $30 filters, 4 times a year... But here's the beauty, not only do you get to drink clean fresh safe water, but the filter saves all your water using items in your house... Chlorine and sediment attacks the copper piping as well as the rubber "gaskets" that keep all your water appliances, faucets, toilets etc from leaking... Good water filtration save not only you, but your home as well... and maybe the costs balance...

Initially, today because our fear of wasting water, it gathers in the sink trap with the toothpaste spit, until it creates a clog!!! We are currently entering a crisis mode with our plumbing... low volume shower heads, low volume toilets, low volume faucets are all contributing to main line drain clogs... Think about how far 1 gallon of water will push a turd in a pipe... How far is it from your toilet to the main sewer line? When you shave, and brush your teeth, turn on the water and leave it running, rinse your razor under the running water... allow the water in the trap to flow into the drains, not sit there allowing the toothpaste and shavings to become a clunker... at least once a month you should run your garden hose into your main cleanout full blast to rinse everything down to the city sewer, to make room for next month's inadequately flushed items...

Today we see 40-something women marrying 60 something men, because by design women want men, real men that have the qualities they, as women, lack...
There is no equality, men and women have an equivalence, but are mostly, each are half of the human experience...
Women's Lib was the beginning of the destruction for heterosexual couples... Liberal idealism are finishing them off...

What a huge ego it takes to think you can make a difference on the planet... Humans more powerfult than the sun, the moon, the rotation of the earth, more powerful than volcanos, hurricanes, earthquakes, and, of course Natural Global Warming... HUGE EGO!!!
We occupy 3% of the earth, stand .0000038% tall in our atmosphere, and have been industrialized for .000000004% of the time the planet has been warming...
Interestingly, NASA has taken a picture recently showing our Blue Planet is Greener than any time in the past that they have been taking pictures...
Is there any hope of effective action on climate change? If you have a God, ask him because no Human can do anything except turn everything white to maybe increase our reflectivity... and that "maybe" is really an "I doubt it would make any difference"...
So NO... simply NO, and if anyone tells you different, they are conning you, are stupid, or just have a huge ego, WE JUST AREN'T THAT SIGNIFICANT!!!

Decreasing Reflectivity Increases Temperature... The square footage of ice that has been removed from the earth's surface in the last 700 million years is well beyond half the square footage of the earth, as a result the speed at which our planet will warm will, naturally become faster, naturally increasing the melting of the remaining ice, which naturally decreases the reflectivity faster, warming our planet faster... Realize it took 40,000 years to melt the ice from halfway up the US to halfway up Canada... I don't believe we have another 40,000 years left, and there is nothing we can do about it short of increasing our reflectivity by turning everything we can white, which I also don't believe would work because we aren't that significant on the planet...
As far as the heat of the sun having an affect, how hot was it 700 million years ago? 40,000 years ago? 1,000 years ago? how about 200 years ago?... As far as we know the sun temperature changes 10 times your 1.5C every 500 years without affect, making your question impossible to answer...
What we do know is how much ice covered our planet and when, making the ice cover the best gauge for temperature of the earth, and allowing us to understand that if we intend on surviving the next 40,000 years we better learn how to swim...

Realistically, I don't know that it has to... As shown in the movie WaterWorld... eventually, the ice will be gone and our planet will be covered with water... Survivors will survive as best they can, and if they can survive long enough, may evolve into a creature that can better handle life on /in the sea... as the seas warm they will develop tolerances... and as the skies cloud, again they will evolve, and eventually, provided adequate breeding was able to take place throughout the WaterWorld, the parts evolved will atrophy as they become more like us on the next cycle of what we think of as earth

NO, second hand smoke cannot be more dangerous that first hand exposure...
First hand exposure requires a direct draw into your mouth and lungs
Your mouth and lungs are designed to take things from what you put in them
What is left after you blow the smoke has to be inhaled by "the victim" of the second hand smoke
The Victim doesn't draw it in, which means they get less smoke in their mouth and lungs, and what they are taking in has already been filtered by the smoker, which means the net affect of the second hand smoke has to be much less than the firsthand smoke..
That Said... the sidetrack about health of the second hand smoked people does make a difference in the affect on them, BUT, If those people where smokers the net affect of the first hand would still far outweigh the net affect of second hand on those individuals...
Second hand smoke danger is simply a form of anti-smoking propaganda put together by the huge-ego'd-maniacs... And like most things they come up with, a few minutes of actual thinking time, rips them to shreds...

"Undetected" does not mean "Not Present"... usually, it means wait a few years...
For decades, I've believed that Einstein is wrong about gravity, AND, given the tools it could be proven...
Spin a globe and try to place anything, the smallest speck on it and make it stay, it doesn't work, the speck is repelled...
Now, place that globe in a vacuum, spin it until an atmosphere is formed then place the speck...
Gravity is a result of downward forces from the atmosphere of a body...
Does the sun have an atmosphere? Perhaps as big as our solar system or beyond? An Undetected one perhaps? Perhaps our first probe that reaches the next star can tell us of any gravitational differences, defining the border of our sun's atmosphere...

Noooo...
Once upon a time, the earth was covered with ice, spinning and moving around the sun... At some point the temperature at the equator, the most constant point to the sun and friction line of the spin, got above freezing and began to melt... Due to it's melting, it lost reflectivity from it's share of the white ice that use to cover it... This, above freezing iceless portion of earth bordered on more ice, and continued to spin at 1,000 MPH, expanding the friction and warmth onto the iced portions melting them, 40,000 years ago, half the U.S. was still covered with ice and the regression of ice continued to where it is today, and is still continuing...
It seems to me that if Humans are responsible for this, we should blame the Humans from 40,000 years ago for continuing their industrial dreams after so much devastation had already and was obviously continuing...
But I digress... Eventually, all the ice will be gone and water will cover most if not all the land.. without any present cooling affect, the waters will increase in temperature until evaporation becomes as consistent as the current melting is... Eventually, clouds will block the sun, the clouds will cool, rain, snow and ice will fall, and the earth will be covered with ice, until such a time that the clouds are gone, the sun shines through and the temperature at the equatorial line will exceed freezing...
So blaming the internal warmth for global warming, really doesn't add up, it was hot when the earth was covered in ice, and will be again... Global warming has more to due with movement friction and the resulting thermal transfer within our atmosphere...
Some would suggest that WE, who have been industrialized for hundreds of the hundreds of millions of years that the ice has been melting are speeding up that process... 70% of the surface of the earth is water... we don't live there... on the 30% left, we occupy about 10% of that... So 3% occupancy, for .0000000014% of the time of the melting...
That said, it seems to me there is little we can do to fight 1,000 MPH friction on our surface, the earth has to spin, and little we can do to cool the border between the melted and the frozen from continuing the melt... We could, however increase our reflectivity by simply making everything we can, white... white roads with black lines, white roofs, white cars, white clothes...
So those huge-ego'd-maniacs that think WE can affect global warming may want to consider completely whitening their portion of our world, and, of course, stop doing all the things they believe contribute, like driving and flying, cooking and breathing...

It's well documented that incest produces poor offspring... Diversity in breeding is what creates strong surviving individuals... This being the case, I believe that human beings are capable of great diversity in offspring, for the sake of survival of our species... Lust is a natural desire, causing males to have sex with many females and females having sex with many males, before we became "civilized"... While never proven and perhaps never even researched, I have to believe that human, if not other animal, female egg development changes with every opportune, varied, injection of DNA into her. Your children are 50% Father, and a mix of the Mother and every guy that she ever had unprotected sex with... Which is probably why it was probably never even researched...

To use a faster language you would have to think faster, but that doesn't mean that the faster thinking is a result of the faster language, more than likely the opposite would be the reality...
Quality of thought, something that is rare today, is the next question, speed doesn't usually result in better thought, in fact "sleeping on it" usually creates the best quality of thought...
A larger diversification of words was suggested but if you take the time to look at our English language you'll see that we DO have a large diversity that most people don't recognize as being different words, such as "Apparent", "Obvious", and "Evident"... They are apparently the same, some might say obviously the same, but few know they are evidently different...
I recently met a young Chinese Migrant, well versed in English. I mentioned "television" and he couldn't come to terms with my limitation of the subject... His confusion being apparent, I inquired, and he explained that there is more "television" than what the cable company supplies... The transfer of visuals also comes from DVD's BluRay, and many other forms, including his smart phone which he pointed at as he explained... While he knew what a "TV" is, he didn't realize that "TV" means television...

Personal Experience: My diabetic father developed a big black thing on the tip of his big toe... having always been concerned about amputation, he immediately went to the Doctor, and they cut off the top of his toe flat... They put him in an ozone chamber everyday for weeks and the tip rounded itself back out, appearing to have completely regrown, if in fact it didn't actually grow back... I also have an ozone maker that purifies my air and have for decades, every so often I stop using it for a while just to make sure it actually works... I believe Ozone gets a bad rap because it's contrary to the "Save The Earth" people's fights to eliminate everything that makes us an advanced species...

Autotrophs are most simply, us, before we were "us"... What makes you drool? Suppose you lived on baloney sandwiches, and all of the sudden you come across a diversified buffet... wouldn't YOU drool? As the earth became more and more conducive to producing life as we know it today, the diversity of the autotrophs food producing needs would naturally increase... That said, I really don't think the writers of that song really gave it that much thought... THAT said... pretty cool thought to think they DID think it through...
