Not to mention aeroplanes. No infrastructure, flexible routeing, and an unmatched safety record at 500 mph. Of course they have only been around for 110 years, so not to be trusted, and Party supporters can't make money buying and selling land en route, nor do they require the diversion of vast sums of taxpayers' money to Party friends to build and subsidise (even at 5 times the ticket cost per mile), nor do they provide a visible monument to political opportunism. So we will be stuck with railways as long as the green lobby has its head up the anus of government.Sorry i don't see the relevance of your answer and quite frankly i suggest the forum could be better moderated.
Have you ever heard of a train derailment?Yes you make my point, it's difficult for people to grasp the concept of mass public transport outside the Stephenson's Rocket model of 190 years ago whereby trains come of rails. We need to come off the rails and look at super light materials and the physics of propulsion to find a concept for moving people. Given we have a motorway network the space and routes are there for free. Engineers can do almost anything , all they need is a problem so i am asking the wider community what is possible?
