General Science / Why does the inside of my spectacles lenses always get dirtier than the outside?

I have noticed over the years of wearing glasses that whenever I have been in a dirty environment (for instance the beach on a windy day when there is lots of salt in the air, or working on the allotment, even frying food) that there is more dirt on the inside of my lenses that the outside.
I should imagine that the outside of the lenses is exposed to more airflow and thus more dirt, but something seems to prevent this from affixing to the lens and I cannot think of a convincing reason why this should be - any thoughts?
I should add that my lenses are not made of glass, but the material that you have to pay more for to get thinner lenses. They have a non-scratch coating, but I think that is on both sides of the "glass".
