General Science / Is light through a window considered direct? Is glass not an obstruction?
« on: 09/08/2017 12:50:17 »
Hello,
Though a portion of light can pass through it and be beneficial to plants, I find it a stretch to call light coming in through a glass window "direct". In the literal sense, glass is an obstruction. The intensity of sunlight when passed through glass is diminished considerably, and UVB rays are typically blocked by the glass.
Why then do people say sunlight through a window is "direct sunlight" is it a semantic trick meant to substitute for "the most direct light possible in a house without opening a window?"
Seeking the most science based answer possible.
Thanks
