Physics, Astronomy & Cosmology / failed universes?
« on: 20/03/2014 12:13:54 »
I read somewhere (i cant remember where however) that there is a theory that our universe could be one of many attempts. The theory being that previously, other universes may have failed because gravity was either too weak or too strong for example but ours was perfect - hence it worked.
(firstly, did I just imagine this?)
My question is, if this theory were possible, how is it that a failed universe could contract/reverse into a singularity if it didn't have the prerequisites to form a universe?
