Just Chat! / WHAT MAKES YOU ANXIOUS
« on: 26/03/2009 12:37:53 »Clinical anxiety is a different beastie from feeling anxious in the same way that clinical depression is not the same as feeling a bit low. Both can be very debillitating.
I'm not sure of the exact clinical definition of anxiety but put simply it's when you are worried about something 24/7. It can range from mild to severe and there have been cases of people committing murder solely because of anxiety.
There can be physical symptoms involved too such as tachycardia, profuse diaphoresis (that's sweating to you & me), dyspnea (problems with breathing) and even a change in skin colour.
Anxiety attacks (sometimes called panic attacks) often involve asthma-like symptoms.
Sometimes, it's not just commiting murder. You also tend to take your own life. In my case, I was always thinking on how to die but of course it's wrong and I don't want to do it. I believe and I must believe that this is only not because of our way of thinking but medically speaking, it is an illness like a fever or what not that seeks medication. I'll take DBs advice. I'll consult a GP or a general physician first to achieve a better diagnosis.
