Complementary Medicine / A herb that dilates veins and arteries?

Hi,
I've tried a lot of herbs to improve my circulation (as it's very bad) and they do work, but they cause pain to my left big toe which has a permanent problem there (too complicated to go in, but I'll just say it's always swollen and gets worse with all kinds of foods/herbs). So my question is this. I once had a drug prescribed to be a few years back that dialated my blood vessels, and it worked, but had terrible side effects so I stopped it. So what I want to know is is there a natural alternative (a herb) that 'dilates' the veins and arteries to improve circulation? I've searched a little on google but haven't found any answers. Any help would be good. Thanks.
