I thought I would offer my experience. I had a fetish which included overeating, weird I know. I felt dull and foggy until I was 18, when I stopped doing the fetish, stopped masturbating, and I tried to rebalance and turn my life around. I lasted for about 4 months of not masturbating, not fantasizing, or watching porn of any kind, or overating. Instead of rebalancing what happened was I developed POIS. I have determined that at least SOME POIS is a desperate need to release tension that is often made worse by our avoidance to do so because of how badly it makes us feel. Everyone in this forum seems to have a very powerful libido like myself, and that's no coincidence. Most POIS problems go away after reengaging in my fetish, and come back after I stop. I do not believe abstinence is the answer. Your brain needs to get used to dopamine again and it needs to bad, because for too long you've avoided it at all costs. You need to get a dopamine receptor balance between ED and POIS. Let your brain know dopamine is ok. I would suggest(rather than masturbating) that you try to fantasize a LOT for a while. Don't masturbate, just fantasize a LOT(no porn). Let your brain get used to a steady stream of dopamine again. This seems to work well for me, I hope it does the same for you. I'm sure there's more to it than that, but my hope is that it will make you feel a lot better.
