I think a less controversial debate would be Hilbert being co-creator of General Relativity with Einstein

well he was trying to argue against the "Eurocentric" attitudes of history of scienceI understand. I hope you learned a valuable lesson from all of this. Never accept what someone in an internet forum says unless you know them to be an expert in their field or can provide you with a verifiable source such as a textbook or a history book written by a known authority on the subject. There are a huge number of people out there were extremely distorted views of reality.
he tried to tell me that Calculus was around since Archimedes, the Indian mathematicians etc. yet we give credit to Newton and Leibniz, and that the work in Newtons Principia was originally done first by Bhaskara in the 1100s
I tried to tell him that things are much more complicated than that,
How are we different? In this forum there are people who you can trust. If you post here long enough you'll learn who they are. They'll be the people who will provide you with legitimate sources like I've done here. I don't hold myself up to be an expert or an authority on anything. Most physicists, experts and authorities will not themselves refer to themselves as such. They're too professional and humble to do that.
i should say that this is the same guy that also claims that Newton stole alot of his ideas from ancient Indian mathematiciansWhere did you get this notion from? I find it impossible to believe.is their any reality to this claim as well? The first step to an answer to your inquiry is to question your source of information. In fact that's always the best step to answers.
