Can you give me ideas for Reycylcing / Donating ?
« on: 16/01/2008 17:15:57 »
I work for a manufacturing company.  For every single product that we produce, we have about 2 feet of nylon rope left over that we cut off of the end.  Currently, this unused rope is going in a land fill somewhere.  I inquired about different ways our company could "go green" and was told that a few years back we tried to recycle this rope somehow, but it was going to end up being a big expense to the company which they were/are not willing to make.

I'd like to explore ways that this rope could be donated or recycled or used in another manufacturing process without any (or very little) expense to this company.

I've Googled every term that I can think of, but I'm not getting any hits or actual ideas to complete this.  Any help with this would be must appreciated.  Thank you in advance.

Check this thread and the person who started the thread. I posted some links and you might try Humboldt state University in Arcata California They have a great recycling program and Arcata is a huge recycling community! You may find some ideas or contact them for some innovative ideas for recycling your rope!

Karen, thank for the link:

In it, I found this link which I think may prove to be useful if anyone wants this stuff:
newbielink:http://www.ciwmb.ca.gov/ [nonactive]
I believe that we'd give it away for free, provided someone paid for the delivery/shipping.
