Dearest Ocular Hirsuteologists,

Eye Lashes are my all time favourite caterpillar orientated hairy thing that sits upon the eyes. Eyebrows equally so.

As ewe can see they come in all shapes and sizes and hue !

Hmmm....can barely see hers !! ..I think she has trimmed them or shaved them off !! [::)]

Ok...so we have eye lashes to stop stuff getting into our eyes....that's nice !!

But what about snakes and frogs (and other amphibian type non eyelash owning animals ?)...what do they have as a " preventer " from pollen, sand, dust, insects ?

Thanking ewe

Snakes don't even have eyelids! They have a tough, transparent scale over their eyes. I think this is true for some other reptiles.

Reptiles and some amphibians (not sure about the amphibians) have a second eye-lid called a nictitating membrane membrane that is used to cover the eyes. Mammals have eyelashes.
