Daniel Jenkins asked the Naked Scientists:

A couple of shows back you received a question about drinking cold water to lose weight.

But what I would like to know, is if not warming your house as much in the winter or not covering up at night would be better?

What do you think?

You would use up more energy shivering to try to keep yourself warm yes, but it wouldn't be worth it, you'd have a bad night of sleep if you were lying there shivering. Just snuggle up in a warm bed and get a good night of sleep then you'll be able to wake up 30 mins earlier and do some exercise instead i'd reckon.

Hehe...tried them both. The second tends to make you really hungry!
