What, chemically, is nitrade?

Daniel Cole Jones asked the Naked Scientists:
What does nitrade refer to as used with the -ade ending? I've seen it with potassium ammonium nitrade & titanium carbon nitrade coatings, as in metals.
Can you give me a clue so I can research this further into possible compounds found with nitrade?
Thanks!!!
What do you think?

I think it's a typo, The potassium and ammonium compounds are probably meant to be nitrates and the coatings are titanium nitride.
