Yes, you can go back to an earlier IE browser. You can do a google search with keywords like "IE6 download" with your operating system. Assuming you have WinXP, for example, you can try the following website:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/default.mspx

Thank you Dr Beave..I do use Firefox ( and Kmeleon which you recommended ages ago !) and they are great...but there are some sites that still insist on IE only !

It won't install because it detects the later browser ...presumably uninstalling IE7 is a simple affair ?

Agreed !!

Have successfully uninstalled IE7 and it has re-installed IE6 as a consequence !

If I uninstalled that, would it defer to ie5 ?..so on and so forth  ? etc etc

Glad it worked out for you.

I'm not sure if it would revert to IE5 once you uninstall IE6. This is a little feature that deals with backward compatibility. It could very well be that IE7 was the first of the IE browsers to have this feature. I don't know.

You can do a google search on some user groups to get an answer on this without actually doing it yourself to test this theory. After all, since your IE6 is now up and running, as engineers would like to say: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Or, if the engineers concerned are Microsoft software engineers - "If it's broke, break it a bit more"

Actually, I have to admit that I've got IE running under WINE on my Linux development system so I can check my website layouts  [:(]

FireFox doesn't work that well for me, for instance, I could open up the FireFox browser and in a few minutes it will close for some reason.
Any ideas on why this happens?

Had the same problems with 3.0.3.
Upgraded to 3.0.5 and it works fine.

But I'm hoping they're not pushing too many 'innovations' into it.
As I will change browser otherwise.

A browser should be fast simple and secure.
And the idea of add-ons and extensions, that all can create, is very good.
But don't touch my privacy Firefox:)
