Has anyone seen the American television show "Eureka"?
« on: 07/03/2009 04:33:29 »
The show is about this average U.S. Marshal Jack Carter who stumbles upon this town called Eureka which is located somewhere in Western United States.  The town is the brainchild of Albert Einstein, who convinced President FDR that the future lays in the hands of scientists.  Therefor a town of the highest secrecy was established that is inhabited almost entirely by brilliant scientists working on new scientific advancements for the United States government.  The show deals with everything from tachyons to parallel universes to nanorobotics to pseudohistory. Interesting concept, yes?

I remember seeing this when it first came out - is it still going?  I thought the ideas were nice but it was let down by a low budget.  I think only the first series aired in the UK.

The movie was based on my hometown..Eureka..
California.. Humboldt County! Here where I live...

I believe though that the location is Canada and they make the town out to b in Oregon but in actuality was based on our Eureka..on the coast here.
It was based basically on old rumors and some supposed truths... but..I am not sure how accurate.. that's just what I heard when they started filming . I believe it still is running.

I want to say April 9th or so episode 3 should be back..or is it 4? Can't remember...

I am not sure how long the show will last..I like it but rumor is that it may not last..

We've been watching Eureka off and on, when we can find it (gasp) online. We like it, but I do find it a bit far-fetched at times.

Its not bad.. I like it too. I also agree there have been some things if they had backed off a bit or left a bit more to the imagination where it would have been a bit more believable as Purple geek says.. a bit far fetched at times.

Well, the show is science fiction comedy, therefor the show is not supposed to be taken seriously.  One thing I noticed about the show is very interesting.  The town of Eureka is labeled as a top secret community.  My question is how Jack Carter and his daughter were able to stumble upon the town so easily.  One would think that such a location would be heavily guarded by the United States Military.
