How Does Our Body Know To Do Instinctual stuff ?
« on: 12/06/2009 10:11:07 »
Good Moaning !

I recently asked a question about the nature of eye squinting whilst scrutinising.

........the answer came that "Both depth of field and depth of focus increase with smaller apertures" from this I deduced that this is why we squint.

How does my body know to make me squint ?..how does my body know about all the other instinctual stuff that it does ?

I suppose this is a question about the nature of all that inbuilt knowledge eh ?

whajafink ?

well....I'm convinced !!

[;D]   I suppose what  I mean is, how does that "programming" (if it programming) get instilled there in the first place ? there must be a rudimentary backbone/foundation that instructs actions to happen via instict !

There was this rather long thread which might have an answer in it somewhere: How does "instinct" evolve?. Ewe're a brave man if you read all of that [:)]

I suspect that you body does not 'know' how to make you squint, but that practice and trial and error has conditioned you to squint in certain situations.
