WHY HAS MY HANDWRITING DETERIORATED?
« on: 23/12/2009 21:32:03 »
I am 59 years of age.

When I was at school my handwriting was reasonable, neat and clear.

After many years of working in offices, mainly typing, and only really using handwriting for jotting down messages, my handwriting looks almost illegible!

I wrote a message in a Christmas card to a friend and he thought I was dyslexic as the line of my handwriting was slightly higher on the right-hand side than the left!   My writing is also untidy - not like it used to be.

Does being left-handed have anything to do with it?

I would really love to restore my handwriting to how it was years ago.

Practice.. and slow down your penning.  I love beautiful handwriting and find that when in a hurry or in different moods my handwriting can very unless I become quite aware of how I am writing. Bubbly is in a giddy mood, romantic loving I write very proper and flowing so If I am feeling really bored and tired My writing becomes sloppy and really awful...

Just practice keeping in mind beautiful even full flowing writing...

I am on the net all the time but my handwriting is only as nice as I want it when I want to write,, I do not forget how to write in my best Penmanship, if that is what I want.

My penmanship is atrocious.

Our parents and grandparents were artists.

My mother, a teacher, taught me to have a beautiful hand. Over the years, speed has been sacrificed for quickness. Quality of my writing has deteriorated. Yet is I slow down, I can recapture to some extent the quality of my handwriting.

But has been pointed out - it is all practice, practice, practice.

Many thanks for your comments.    It seems I will have to refill my fountain pen, which I bought last year, and have some practice.

I am still not confident I will attain the standard which AllenG's link showed - but it would be good if I could!
