Do low frequency sounds herald an earthquake?
« on: 26/04/2010 11:30:03 »
Ivo Costa asked the Naked Scientists:

This is more of a question about your past programme on observation of animal behavior before earthquakes.

Has it been evaluated the possibility of emission of infra sounds in early phases of earthquakes? I recently saw a documentary on elephant communication and how infra sounds are so well disguised in the surroundings noise, could this be a simple answer?

I don't expect that much but at least I would like to now if that is a possibility or if it has already been eliminated.

Regards Ivo Costa

What do you think?
