The first ideas for scanning and sequential transmission of picture information for TV were from France but Alexander Bain (a Scot) invented the fax machine in 1846 which involved scanning and sequential transmission. Nipkow (German) had the brilliant idea of a simple disc scanner and patented a full TV system in 1884. Campbell Swinton (A Scot) proposed electronic TV in 1908. Baird (A Scot) developed TV based on Nipkow's
disc. EMI (UK) worked on electronic TV using Zworykin's (Russian working in the USA) camera tube.

Fully functional fully Electronic Television we know today?
Gives credit to: Philo Taylor Farnsworth
... read his career path, it describes the dark sides of corporate politics when they see someting that is a money maker.
"Philo Taylor Farnsworth (August 19, 1906 – March 11, 1971) was an American inventor and television pioneer. Although he made many contributions that were crucial to the early development of all-electronic television, he is perhaps best known for inventing the first fully-functional all-electronic image pickup device (video camera tube), the "image dissector", the first fully-functional and complete all-electronic television system, and for being the first person to demonstrate such a system to the public.[2][3]"

Nah, Farnsworth's image disector was extremely insensitive.
