Green stains on cotton towel inside steam room
« on: 07/11/2006 18:52:51 »
My wife told me that she started noticing a green stain on the white cotton towel that she sits on when in the steam room. Any idea of what this might be, and how it is caused?
Thank you,
Uwe

Does your steam room have a window, as the obvious thing would be some form of algae, and it would need light to grow... How often are the towels washed?

Hi Uwe,

Welcome to the forum.

may I ask it definitely a Steam Room  (very wet heat) or is it a Sauna ? (very dry heat)

The reason why I ask (and I'm no expert)..but I know Saunas especially, (because of the wood) can attract certain fungus...and i just wondering if there might be a relevance here.

If it's a steam room, which I assume has plastic seating (in My experience anyway)..then I'm stumped....she's not sitting on anything copper is she ?..what is the shape of the stain ?...does it match the depression of her ..ahem....derriere ?

what about other peoples towels ?

A fungus is also possible, it depends on the green, is it leaf green or a washed out grey-green?
