Under the regime of our planet earth having been reduced to real estate, have the lives of humans become franchised?

Only in Britain. I don't know of another country where property is absurdly expensive and private ownership is the norm. In other densely populated areas, professional landlords compete to rent property and the market keeps costs affordable, and in the wilds of the Americas land is cheap and houses are not expected to be capital growth investments. Over 30% of the UK economy consists of mortgages, mostly on secondhand houses. The effect is to make a fundamentally weak economy look very active, and governments are therefore delighted if property prices inflate to compensate for the collapse of primary and secondary industries.

It is an out and out con perpetrated by the Thatcher government. Selling off social housing ultimately led to the financial crash. Since Thatcher also destroyed manufacturing we had nothing to fall back. Then the brain dead Muppet comedy duo of Cameron and Osbourne A.K.A. The bully boys decided that raising VAT to 20% would help restore the economy. So that for the first time in economic history a government managed to prolong a recession. Then they decided we had to pay for their mistake and slashed all funding except of course for themselves. Now Osbourne is telling other investors how to make lots of lovely wonga in his new part time job.

The problem actually began with biochemistry, not Thatcher (though she did exacerbate it).
There has always been a slight shortage of houses in the UK, particularly since 1945. But prices were limited by mortgage availability, and oldfashioned building societies would only lend 2.5 times a man's current salary plus 0.5 times his wife's. Come the 1960s, oral contraceptives meant that any woman could work for as long as she needed to pay her debts, so the mortgage limit rose to 3 x joint salary. There being no more houses, however, this just meant that anyone selling their house could charge more for it, and the Property Boom began. With secondhand properties inflating at 20% per year for the first 5 years or so, the housing market became a handy political football - actually more like a rugby ball that passed from Left to Right without moving forward.
Problem was that after 5 years of wage slavery, most young women thought it a good idea to have children whilst they were still alive, so we had a significant growth in third party childcare for high earners, serious wage demands for blokes at the bottom of the scale, and mortgage interest rates of 15% "to curb inflation". Fat chance - it just meant that you had to buy and sell more quickly to make an illusory profit, and banks found it preferable to lend to houseowners rather than businesses. The rest, as they say, is history, and explains why bankers and estate agents vote Tory.
I understand that "the economy" now includes estimates for prostitution and drugs, so we can all go to hell knowing that Britain's economy is in great shape.

While I agree with the posts above, I'm seeing this as merely being symptomatic of something a lot more fundamental.
In Britain they screw us to the wall over every little aspect. We pay more money than our neighbours in Europe, or America, across the board for almost everything.
The reason the British powers that be have been able to shaft their own residents so severely has its roots in the open door policy given to all the peoples of Britain's now lost Empire, where it was 'thought' that the people of these outlying bits of Britain would not uptake the offer quite so numerously...
Or so the powers that be said! Personally it is clear to me that it was of great advantage to these long term beneficiaries of the previous era's opium and slave trade, to allow immigrants to arrive in Britain proper, as it ensured the continued repression of the British peasants, giving the working class residents of Britain a more close to home and immediately tangible threat to their livelihoods to vent their frustrations upon...
An immigrant, to this day, can work like a dog in Britain saving money, that when taken, or sent back to their own country, can buy them a home, or fund an upstart for their business, while their counterpart British worker will forever be a slave in their own country to their rent.
However, again I find that we can break history down much, much, further to examine the root causes for this universally predominant act of repressing ones fellow man in the pursuit of power.
When we refer to the animal kingdom, and todays situation of the near extinction of many species, we say that these animals have been displaced from their natural habitat by human progress...
I would go one stage further and suggest that humans themselves have been displaced from their natural habitat by human progress, but only because of this underlying trait in the human psychology for the desire to hold power over another, that can be observed in every nook and cranny of society, from the larger scale business of the running of countries, right down to the smaller scale business of running of household.
Why do people do it?
In order to examine the underlying causes for human behaviour, it is necessary to understand the origins of our own development, leading me back to the period of before our evolution from ape to man, where the phycological differences between the remits of living within an animal group that is herbivorous, carnivorous, or omnivorous, can be viewed as pertinent in that they are inherited and inherent factors of our phycological make up.
A herbivorous animal must spend most of its time grazing. It's diet is severely lacking in protein and therefore the animal must eat a lot at regular intervals in order to maintain itself.
The phycology of this animal is purely self serving. Where it could wander further away from the group to the benefit of less competitive grazing, it remains part of a group because of safety in numbers.
It has observed the fact that predators are either solitary creatures, or live in family groups, where both types retain marked territory. The herbivore group must move through these territories in order to find fodder, and if an individual keeps within a larger group of its own kind than a predator group will number, then the odds for the individual herbivore's immediate survival are greatly increased.
Negating sex drive phycology, which is pretty similar in all types of animal, and is for group animals, territorial with regards to individuals rather than land territory, no matter if singular or multiple partner oriented... leading to complex phycological considerations of itself...
But sticking for now to the drive for food and security...
Baseline phycology for the herbivore is self serving, non territorial.
Predators are less easily defined, especially solitary predators due to their sexual drive being predominantly 'actual territory' oriented, rather than group member oriented, but what we get are 2 types of scenario, whether purely carnivorous, or omnivorous in diet. These being the solitary predator, and the group predator.
Baseline phycology for the solitary oriented predator is self serving, territorial.
Baseline phycology for the group oriented predator is co-operative, territorial.
What we are looking at as occurring in a diet oriented evolution within a species is a direct transference of base line phycology...
If we are supposing a herbivorous ape evolving into an omnivorous ape as the basis for our human origins, we can expect this evolution of dietary change to be an event precipitated by necessity rather than by choice. And that this event of evolving from one type of diet to another would not have occurred overnight, therefore will not be due to natural disaster as such, but is likely to have been due to climate change.
Climate change being a flux observed of our planet's history.
Examining how a herbivore, self serving, non territorial group reacts in situations of depleted grazing, we observe the larger group splitting into smaller groups in search of fresh grazing. Under limited grazing conditions, animals that grazed side by side are observed to be grazing further and further from each other as hunger outweighs their self serving group phycology.
Different types of herbivore animals will split into smaller groups based on their sexual and parental orientation.
Herbivore apes, due to their parental orientation trending to ongoing relationship bonds, will naturally split into groups that are oriented towards family tribes, as land territory becomes an issue under failing grazing conditions.
What we are now looking at is a base line phycology of self serving, territorial.
This is a solitary predator phycology...
A forced evolution from a self serving, non territorial phycology, to a self serving, territorial phycology, under these conditions of a depleted access to grazing will, over time, cause a herbivore to evolve into an omnivore.
But here we find that there are two significant considerations:
A herbivore evolving into an omnivore does not have the necessary teeth, claws or physique to take down significant prey or protect itself as a solitary individual.
And the other being that to retain the underlying self serving phycology of being part of the group, the only means of satisfying both deeply inherent underlying phycological baselines in order to feel secure, a herbivore group evolving into an omnivore group must mimic the group oriented predator, to become of a co-operative, territorial phycology...
But being of herbivore descent, with an inherently inbuilt non-territorial phycology, the trend toward a co-operative, non territorial phycology is an obvious route to the advent of nomadic hunter gatherer groups.
A co-operative, non territorial phycology being the most precipitous for the development and evolution of a species...
But when the hunter gatherer turned over to settled farming, we see a return to the co-operative, territorial phycology.
And with the advent of the return of the territorial phycology and settled communities, we observe a return of the self serving, territorial phycology as a group oriented phenomenon.
We are now looking at a pretty mixed bag of phycology here...
We humans as individuals have the underlying herbivore self serving phycology attached to being part of a group, but we also have a non-territorial phycology attached to habitat, coupled with the advent of the self serving phycological orientation of the group itself.
So we can see that this passive co-operative, non-territorial phycology becomes self serving, territorial.
We also have an inherently inbuilt herbivore, self serving phycology regarding food, coupled with the co-operative psychology of gathering food, within the self serving group phycology.
So we can see that the passive co-operative, non territorial phycology again becomes self serving territorial.
And what we end up with is a base line phycology for humanity which is that of a solitary predator... inclusive of an underlying base line phycology inherent to an animal that feels insecure outside of the group.
We now have humans that will have their basis in solitary predator activities within the social group...
...and concepts such as personal, and group territory ownership have turned the planet over to real estate, where human existence has become franchised to a group collective that is dominated by the phycology and drive of the most insecure solitary predators emerging within the group.
(At present a display of these insecure solitary predator types can be observed as the 83 or so persons that are in possession of the greater majority of the world's wealth!)
The human is an unlimited potential for evolution. We use only a tiny percentage of our brains, but there is no chance of our species evolving any further unless we can make a transference of phycology back to the co-operative, non-territorial remit that precipitates growth and evolution, rather than this modern day self serving, territorial phycology that is not at-all suited to an animal that is not solitary inclined. A phycology that just breeds slavery as predatory behaviour in whatever form we choose to 'dress it up' as, as a means to fund territorial war.
