Certainly. The only thing that is hindering the process is Trump’s own ineptitude.

While some would point out that our system of government has checks and balances, those cease to exist if one party - or, in the case of the modern GOP, an ideologically motivated tribe - controls every branch of government. Where are the checks? What balance can be had?

The pillars of our democracy have been under attack like never before. The free press is vilified as “fake news”, and we’re now supposed to believe “alternative facts”. Candidates choose their voters (not vice-versa, as it should be) through shady campaign finance and gerrymandering. The system is being rigged before our very eyes.

The best way for a useful moron like Donald Trump to be kept in power is to silence the opposition forever. This is now happening.

Most folk agree that it would have been better not to start separating kids from their parents.
It's good to see that he has recognised his massive mistake here; but it would be far better if he hadn't adopted such a grotesque policy in the first place.

As I understand it, this "improvement" means that the kids will still be locked up- but they will be locked up with their parents.
That's still pretty inhuman.

I think the title of this thread makes a mistake, however. I think that Trump's election is a symptom of America already having started on the road to fascism before the election.

The real problem is that the majority of voters are becoming sick of politicians. This leads to apathy and no motivation to vote in the first place. When voters are seeking a change, or just to stick it to the political classes, they vote for extremes in protest. If too many decide to protest vote, then it is easy for outside influence (Putin's hackers) to sway the overall vote. This has nothing to do with a shift towards fascism within the population. More to do with enforcing preexisting views and making them appear much more legitimate. Like the slogans "crooked Hilary" and "lock her up". That was flooding every type of media via Russian federation bots.

The problem with politicians is their natural instinct is to ''slag'' off their opponents, whether they be their own nationality or another nationality, it becomes about them and not about the country .
No offence to Mrs Clinton, but Mr Trump is far smarter ....No need to send her to jail though, she will just be made to look stupid , conspiracy theories are so funny, where can I find a conspiracy forum ? that will be fun .

Objectively , does Mr Trump look like he needs help in vote when the crowds/voters show he has a huge following ?
