What type of glass is this that I found in some rock fragments?
« on: 18/01/2020 23:18:10 »
I've come across several pieces of what I think is glass inside of several different rocks and some even had glass coating the outside. It's found in both igneous and sedimentary rocks, this was an area where a lot of the rocks would set off a metal detector. These photos were all taken with a digital microscope.

If it has any crystals it's not a tektite.

Could it be impact melt glass? I also came across what I think could be shocked glass. What's the difference between shocked glass and shocked quartz?
