quantum mechanics introduces phonon
« on: 19/08/2021 17:29:45 »
I just heard of a phonon, which is a soundwave particle in quantum mechanics. Could we measure phonon with a          t-square to get photons? haha but seriously WTHeck is a phonon?

Hi.
Phonons are described here:   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phonon
They are said to be important in condensed matter physics.  I don't know any more about them, sorry.

They are said to be important in condensed matter physics.
They are pretty general in physics of crystal lattice vibrations. They are just the quantum of the vibrations and behave like particles.

I just heard of a phonon
They were "introduced" nearly a century ago.

I just heard of a phonon, which is a soundwave particle in quantum mechanics.

Phonons are also studied for the thermal transport as the radiative heat transfer energy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heat_transfer_physics
