I very very rarely get chapped lips maybe once every several years.. LOL But it is usaully after I have put on chap stick thinking OH I think I will protect my lips today! LOL then I lick the stuff off and forget about it! LOL

I think it can be caused by dehydration wind drying them out the hot sun drying them out etc etc.. all having to to with being dried out.. probably dehydrated! I do not know if viruses can effect it although I have seen fevers come and terrible chap lips, but again I think that is also dehydration the person is sick loosing body fluids and gets dehydrated as they don't feel like eating or drinking! What ya think?

it has been said, and i don't know if it's true, that chap stick protects your lips, but also has an ingredient that makes your lips dry out more, causing you to have to apply more. anybody know if that's true?

    1.  I have lifetime chapped lips in about a weekly cycle. Summer, winter, tropics temperate climate. Always the same. 2. Go to the shop and there are dozens of products. I know I'm not alone!!  Must be hundreds of millions a year spent on treatment.  3. Go to biomedical research sites..nada..nothing in research on causes, prevention, cures etc. as far as I can find.  Is there any REAL research out there?

i don't have chapped lips, but like Kadie i do sometimes use the stick stuff when i think the weather will turn as a way of prevention. i too have noticed that this leads to dryer lips. perhaps its just a con?
