How does stage hypnotism work?
« on: 06/09/2008 15:43:35 »
Paul Anderson  asked the Naked Scientists:

Dear Chris and team,

When a hypnotist hypnotises a skinny lass, she is suspended between two chairs and someone stands on her stomach, is there not a chance that she will sustain some injury? What is happening in a situation like that? Is it similar to when some folk seem to get super strength if they are suddenly faced with an emergency and, for example, may be able to lift a car off someone or whatever ?

Regards
Paul
