How far back did we differentiate left from right?
« on: 24/10/2008 07:32:45 »
This might sound like a stupid question, but how far back in history did we differentiate our left from our right? Are there any records or ancient languages that don't show the concept of left and right?

I remember being told that the pre-colonial zulu language had the same word for blue and green, and that got me wondering.

Its a perfectly good question and I don't have an answer but would love to hear one.. am curious about how cro-magnum man and such may have communicated these things.. would there be drawings.. that represented these sides.. or what.. I think your question is valid...

The word 'sinister' (left) goes back to Roman times at least.
