I have pointed it out just in case ewe can't locate it in the picture !


It flickered !...why did it flicker ? Why did it not go straight on like a conventional bulb ?
What's the science behind the flickering of my turned on light ?..It does not flicker when I turn it off !!

Tube lights are filled with gas that's being illuminated by an electric discharge.
The reason why TLs flicker is because the gas does not stably conduct the electricity from one end to the other to make a closed circuit from the first discharge of the starter.

So, it takes a few seconds for it all to stabilise. Is it possible to elaborate (just a tad) as to why it does not stabilise immediately ?..Is there a reason why it does not conduct the electricity stably from the offset ?...I am most grateful.
