Why dont plant leaves like green light and reflect it back? Do other colours of the spectrum contain more benefical qualities?

One hypothesis is that ancient ancestors of plants arose in an environment dominated by
purple photosynthetic bacteria
,
their green colour was to optimise the absorption of purple light (the colour of light reflected by the ubiquitous purple bacteria).
