Can someone identify this rock?
« on: 29/10/2010 17:35:12 »
Hello forum, I found this rock on a dirt field. It looked unusual to me which is why I kept it. Can someone tell me what type of rock it is? Any feedback would be great!

Welcome to the forum!

My first impression is scoria or vesicular basalt (volcanic rock with air holes).  Could also be slag from some sort of furnace.  Could you tell what part of the country you found this in?  Any smelters, furnaces or metal works about?
