A wheel spinning in opposite direction
« on: 28/03/2011 21:37:53 »
Hi,

I understand why in the movies we sometimes see a wheel spinning in the opposite direction. What surprises me is that I'm getting the same effect with a naked eye.

Does it mean that the brain processes the visual information in discrete "frames"?

Alternative explanation that came to my mind - maybe the light source is not constant but actually the light twinkles at certain rate.

Thanks,
Michael

I think you are right about it being caused by the light source. Flourescent tubes can produce quite a lot of flicker.
