My mum has been diagnosed with MDS (MyeloDysplastic Syndrome). Which may progress to Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML), chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMMoL). Most MDS patients die from bleeding or infection and/or from progression to AML. As we have been advised, at least through local mainstream western medical opinions, there is no known cure excluding transplants and Radiation/Chemo Therapy which unfortunately is not an option for patients over 60.


My family are searching for alternative treatments for this affliction and would appreciate any advice or experiences of others.

Two items we are struggling to understand are regarding abnormal stem cells (blast cells?) :
We are unclear if and therefore how good stem cells within the bone marrow may reproduce themselves to replenish the abnormal stem cells currently producing immature blood cells.
Can the deformed cells be destroyed/removed and if so would this allow the good cells from the bone marrow to replinish.
