?visual phenomena,why?
« on: 01/11/2011 13:37:55 »
i watch a very thin stream of oil falling from a pipe & into another pipe thru 1' of airspace. It looks like a stream until i abruptly twist my head horizontally [snaplike] & then i see droplets instead of a stream while my head is rotating [snaplike].

So the drops ewe see are ONLY during the moment of the snap-like head-shift from the vertical to the horizontal ?....and then returns to a steady stream ?

Sounds like a very interesting phenomena.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that when ewe shook your head from vertical to horizontal that for a brief moment your head was moving the same direction as the fluid !?...Oh i don't know !.(confused sheepy)  [;)]..I'm sure you'll get a sensible response..I hope ewe do !

Perhaps eye/head movement is forcing the brain to "refresh" (update) vision more frequently than when the eye/head was still ...

It is also thought that perceptual memory is updated during saccades

A more frequent refresh rate (analogous to a shorter exposure time in photography) is better able to freeze motion.
