I have just been reading about the temperature tolerant beans (on my BBC app). What about this idea?

You have a field of beans surrounded by gauze (to stop/reflect radiation) and you set up a system to radiate out heat (perhaps some oscillating frequency) which heats the  air just above the beans. The hot air rises and draws up air from the beans thereby lowering the temperature of the beans enabling them to germinate. This is at night time and you could have a sensor or time switch.

Just an idle thought when I was reading the article. Obviously there would need to be sensors which would switch off the device if a bird, cat, dog, badger or human entered the field.
