Are we following a pattern of self-discovery programmed into our DNA, by our creators?  Do certain key sequences and experiences trigger subroutines in our makeup that open new knowledge heretofore hidden from us?  Are insights and flashes of brilliance merely the unlocking of secret knowledge stored in our programming?  We seem driven to understand ourselves, and build technology based on the human model.  We study the Genome, and lo and behold, we are programming and building structures with DNA.  We study the polar opposites of cancer and cell death, we learn the chemical messaging, positional referencing, and reconstructive tissue engineering.  Each stage we learn that with just a bit more knowledge we can perfect the body, even perhaps build the body.  Does our perfection of self, lead to programmed desires to establish our created progeny on other worlds? A progeny destined to build upon our instilled programming, to perfect itself and repeat the process.  Do we alter found planets, directing asteroids to destroy dangerous fauna, to reshape a planet to enable a garden for our creation to thrive in?  Do we become the creator on another world?  We form and send the created man who repeats the programming to bring him to these future moments. Can we only create to the limit of what is programmed into our DNA, or can we surpass our creator?

If you acknowledge the existence of DNA and occasional mutations which are occasionally beneficial then that's sufficient for evolution to occur, then there is no need for a creator , (no god-like-creator in creatures shaped by evolution).

Once we create robots with artificial intelligence we will have "surpassed our creator" and become redundant in the process. Maybe they'll keep us as pets.

But wouldn't it be cool to think we could "leap frog" -that is, the things we invented would somehow teach us, which would make us invent something better, that would teach us something new, which could give us even better ideas?

cheryl j, I like the way you think.  I wonder if our programming needs key information to unlock its secrets, I wonder if we could expose ourselves to millions of images, blipped very fast past us, that contained pictures, diagrams, symbols, formulas, of everything that is possible today, and even that which we might imagine.  Would the exposure to those images unlock hidden knowledge, from which we could get inspirations, ideas, new technology?
