During a recent discussion with my cousin, he asked me about "Rice Pullers".  I heard the term for the first time and when he gave me an explanation of what the term meant, I was extremely suspicious that it could be a hoax.  I tried to search on internet but could not find any credible source giving a proper explanation.  

Can you shed some light on this topic?
