I want to make a Tesla Coil and I was wondering if I should buy a "OneTesla TS DIY Kit":

or make one from ground up?

I know that there are allot of guides for this, like this one:

but I'm wondering will they be as powerful, and also, will I be able to make a MIDI controller to make them "sing"?
