Will having more eyes enable you to see in more dimensions?
« on: 24/02/2016 08:20:23 »
Hi,

Is there any relationship between pair of eyes and dimension?

We (and many animals) have two eyes to make complex 3D vision easier to process.

Does that mean any species who can perceive 4 or more dimensions (if dimensions do exist) need to more than 2 eyes?

Cheers,
Raj

If we wait around for a while, we can see that the pattern of light changes over time.

Time can be considered a 4th dimension. So with just 2 eyes (and a bit of patience), we can see in 4 dimensions.

Having more than 2 eyes (like many spiders) does not help you to see 8 or more dimensions!

Light is constrained to travel in 4-dimensional spacetime. If you wanted to see in more than 4 dimensions, your eyes would need to be sensitive to something that is not limited to the familiar 4 dimensions (ie not light).
