I'm sure there is a climate change thread, somewhere, that this should have gone in, but I'm rushing as usual.
I thought it was an interesting read.

The American EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) is now headed by a Trump appointed crook, Scott Pruitt. So don't hold your breath.

Big oil companies are only interested in protecting their profits and don't really care about global warming. You will also notice that the top people in all of these companies are either friends or know each other. I have to say this is the world we currently live in where the rich are obsessed with getting more richer without give any thought to the consequences of their actions.

To: "Global Moderator - Naked Science Forum King!"

The same EPA who spent $½ billion on science trying to frame PM 2.5 as an instant killer?  Despite their science telling them PM 2.5 was innocent, they still could not admit it was pretty harmless. Obama era EPA weren't really big on science were they?

In terms of cost per life saved, the EPA is arguably the least effective government agency anywhere. Problem is that it might just turn out to be useful one day in averting a really big disaster, and like its sister organisations elsewhere, its existence does make businesses think twice before chucking their waste in the river, and has at  least had some effect on air and water pollution and wildlife conservation.

Whilst Pruitt is no more trustworthy than Trump, I think most people realise that the EPA is "nice to have" even if it is occasionally prone to a bit of green fascism.
