Will rust on my de-stemmer affect my grape juice?
« on: 12/08/2018 00:37:27 »
I was given a grape crusher and the crushing rollers are rusty (but no flaky rust).  If I wash with soap and water are there any health issues that can result by crushing grapes thru this rusty crusher?

A bit of iron oxide will do you no harm. Better than the traditional verucca.

Not sure what it will do  for the colour and flavour.

Every great winery has a secret ingredient. Usually a dead rat.

Not sure whether the grape juice will derust the rollers much, grape juice has only low levels of citric acid. You could consider removing the rust with citric acid if it bothers you, it's commonly sold as a descaler.
