What are the available methods to kill cells?
« on: 27/02/2019 13:17:04 »
Hello,

Let's say you hold a cell. How can you kill it?

What are all the available methods?

A few come to mind:

heat (>50 °C)
cold (< –8 °C)
EM radiation (any frequency microwave through gamma, possibly different intensities required)
Particle radiation (α, β, or β+)
mechanical force (pushing, pulling, twisting)
chemical (oxidizing, reducing, acid, base, electrophile, nucleophile, targeted inhibitor of cell function)
biological (virus, or phagocyte)
depriving it of nutrients

cells are delicate

Nice
Can you kill it with catalysts? Inorganic or organic? Or other molecules?
Also can you kill it with electricity?

There are so many things in those three categories that it's like asking " can I use 'things that are blue' in a workshop?"

I know but I am looking about researched and developed or specific feasible solutions.

So, you know it's not a reasonable question to ask.

But you ask anyway.
Why?

It's easier to offer a solution if you state the problem.
