swollen fingers
« on: 10/05/2007 18:49:01 »
I've always noticed that in the summer my rings are tighter than in the winter.   Why do fingers swell up in the summer heat?

This morning after my hour long walk I could barely get my rings off of my fingers, in fact they had started turning purple.  They were fine before I went walking, and they are back to normal now.  The heat was not sweltering at all, only about 87 degrees.

Does this happen to everyone or am I just allergic to the summer?

In my capacity as a ring consultant I can confirm that fingers can swell up (or decrease in size) all too often...and that it's quite the norm for your fingers to go up and down a whole finger size just during the course of the day !

Exerecise, temepertaure, illness, even just a body cycle can affect this.

I am curious....could the girlies confirm if this happens during your ' yucky bit time of month ' ?

For us, 87 is sweltering (maybe a few days a year we get that).  We are presently below 60.

What about humidity?

I'm glad to hear I'm not abnormal...at least in this capacity.

So how is one to choose the correct ring size so that they can always comfortably wear their rings?

87 is considered pleasant here.  The norm during the summer months (June - August) is between 95-100.
It's doesn't seem particularly humid right now, the Weather Channel has us at 47%.

Same here, except we are unusually cool at this point we are 82 and should be at least 10 degrees or more farenheit warmer.  I have shrinkage and it is not because of weightloss....I have no time at any month...

Neily, How does ones finger size go up a "whole finger size!" LOL... I did know what you meant but it was making me laugh..so I couldn't help it! LOL..

Monthly cycle adds to my already swollen extremities as well as the 96 degree F weather we had this last week!  It was crazy hot for May!
