nutritional values& bulimia

hi,
can anyone tell me what happens with food and all the nutritional values in case when you have eaten sth and after 30-40 min make yourself sick and throw up? I mean does the body manage to take up/in all the nutritional values and calories or if one throws up, it automatically loses all that he/she has eaten and doesn`t get any of the nutritional values that was in the food?

Hi Egle,
I never had
sth
so I don't know how it tastes.
Is it solid, liquid or gas?
We do not eat sth in Italy.
What the hell is it?
Ciao

No-one else has responded to this, so I give give a very broad response, because it is not something I know very much about.
There might be a slight uptake of some nutritional elements from the food, but much of the nutritional uptake is further down in the gut(in general, the first bit of the intestines, particularly the stomach, is there to break down the food, and then as you go down, the various bits of the intestines will pick up different bits of the broken down nutrition - this includes the bowels, which amongst other things will try and recover vitamin B12.
The other problems are that you have various bacteria in you guts, some of which are actually useful to you, and they too need the proper nutrition otherwise they may misbehave (not always the good one's will misbehave, but the good one's may help keep the others in check).
Regurgitating food was only ever designed as an emergency procedure to deal with clearing out dangerous poisons, and like all emergency procedures, it is not safe to regularly do this.
It should also be said that the stomach contents are very acid, and regular regurgitation can cause problems in the esophagus (I believe even potential cancer risk).
As I said, I am not an expert, so maybe someone will correct me on this, but that would be my take on the issue.
