what are the properties of blu-tack and why does it light up the microwave?

Blu-tack, what a strange substance. it can be manipulated in to all sorts of shapes but why? Also whilst having some microwave fun, i popped some blu-tack in and hay presto, lovelly sparks. Now i don't see any metal in the blu-tack so why the reaction?
